More Crazy Look Alikes: Jimmy Stewart and Nicolas Cage

Has anyone else noticed this? Truth is, I didn't. My son recognized the similarity and tells me they look so much alike that he could hardly tell them apart, if it weren't for their different-era clothing.  I think they do look alike, but the real similarity is in some aspects of movement and gesture which are harder to see in stills. But take a look at these and see if you agree:

And look at this great earnest expression they share:

    1. LOL. Absolutely! That's what I was checking when I found this blog.
They have same voice characters also ...Stewart had to be more dramatic do to limited props in his time.
I'd be willing to bet Cage studied Stewerts style....also contributing to the similarities .

    2. Jimmy Stewart and James Drury the Virginian both favor Nick Cage to me.

    3. He basically already did a modern remake of that movie - it's definitely reminiscent of It's a Wonderful Life and it's clearly influenced by it. It's called The Family Man.

  6. I also loved Jimmy, for his emphatic facial expressions and his definitive voice, his pause and drawl. The tempo, rhythm and swagger of his speech.and the incredibly tone. all of which Nick Cage has emulated either by relation, study, or chance.

  7. Yes,Susan. I agree with you....Its the Voice and body language that convinces me. Nick's mannerisms mimick Mr. Stewart's as well.
And, Absolutely, I would love a remake of It's a wonderful life!

    1. It's highly unlikely that Nick Cage would be in a remake of 'It's a Wonderful Life'. I like the idea, but he wouldn't want to steal James Stewart's thunder as it were, because I believe he would feel that he'd have an impossible standard to better. There's Only ONE James Stewart and best left to his own movies. As brilliant as Cage is and could play the role, he may be ridiculed by the critics for either: A. Being better than Stewart, if that's possible, which it isn't, or B. Not as good. So many people would draw comparisons between the two that it probably not do Cage any favours, plus I doubt he'd want to do it anyway and would refuse the role. Imagine: Cage played the part in the first place, then J. S, being similar in looks and voice, let's say a similar age, and was considered for a remake. Naturally, this is impossible, but the end result and decision would be just the same as the one we're talking about. J.S would NOT do it, so we have to just imagine Nick in Stewarts role. Nick would not even entertain the part as he may possibly be classed as 'Inferior' (he ISN'T). We all know Nick could do it exceptionally well, but his heart would not be in the role due to expectations by the General Public. Nick is one of the best actors of all time, but he would draw the line here because he isn't James Stewart! The thought is as far as it will go. It ain't gonna happen...ever, not with ANY actor, especially Nick Cage, so there's no point!

  11. I'd never seen any young Nicolas Cage fine before, but I just saw Wild at Heart and this is exactly what I thought. He looked just like Jimmy Stewart in Shop Around the Corner.

  14. The best lookalike for Jimmy Stewart is definitely Tom Amandes. He sounds and looks like Stewart. Even his mannerisms and body language is similar to Stewart's. This is the first I've ever heard of Cage resembling Stewart.. I can see it, but it's nothing like Amandes' resemblance.
